Paradigms are like lenses: shift them, and suddenly new patterns come into focus. That’s the power of Social System Mapping.

Approaches to Mapping People AND Organizations

Estimated reading: 1 minute 106 views Contributors

A network is often made up of a combination of organizations and individuals – with fuzzy boundaries between them.

Organizations (especially Foundations) often have a lot of power to make or break network and understanding how that power plays out may be essential.

On the other hand, individuals have social influence, generate the energy and do the actual work in networks. And if a key influencer moves from one organization to another, they often take their relationships with them, so mapping persons and their connections is also essential.

So which do you map? If you want to map both, how do you do that effectively?

This Miro board shows the four sumApp-based options for mapping both in Kumu. We also had a TechTalk session that walked through the new dual-elements feature you can watch here.
